A
few years ago, I terraced off some of
the property behind the house and started a garden. Here are
some photos of my trials and tribulations
in attempting to make the garden grow.

I learned (the hard way) there are two things
a gardener must have in this neck of the woods. A tiller and
drip irrigation system. |

Ivy
on retaining wall.

A
week later, here is the first row of tomatoes. They are about 5 feet tall now!
|

My
secret weapon! Little burrito! This little puppy has made all the difference.
|
|

Unfortunately,
we're not the only ones interested in what's growing in the garden. This monster
barely fit in to the trap!
|
Raccoons have wiped out the corn crop!
|
|
Yes, I actually captured two at once!
|

One
of the ugliest creatures known to man...the opossum. This is the
first time I've seen one in three dimensions.
|
|

The
pumpkins and butternut squash have spread out so much that they have come over the
retaining wall. This one is now about a foot in diameter!
|

|
|

Out West, we know exactly how to handle varmints.
(Apologies to my childhood hero, Fess Parker.)
Trouble with raccoons? Turn them critters in to hats!
|

So far, I've captured and relocated 13
of these furry little creatures! I wonder why Fess looks so good in one of these and I
look like a jerk?
